You may be able to get extra money from the government called welfare benefits. These benefits are here to support you if you are: 

👀 Looking for work 

You might get: 

  • Universal Credit 
  • JSA (Job Seeker’s Allowance) 

🤕 Can’t work for a while 

If you’re sick or unable to work, you could get: 

  • Universal Credit 
  • ESA (Employment and Support Allowance) 

👶 Have children 

If you’re a parent (birth or adoptive), you might get: 

  • Child Benefit 
  • Other support to help raise your children 

♿ Have a disability or health condition 

You may be able to get: ESA (Employment and Support Allowance) 

❤️ Care for someone 

If you look after someone, you might receive: Universal Credit 

💸 On a low income 

You could get:

  • Extra help with heating and other costs

If you moved to the UK from another country, the rules are different. You need to speak to a trained adviser who can help you understand what you can apply for. What you can get depends on:
