✅ Health Screenings: What You Need to Know

Screening is a way to check your health before you feel unwell. It helps to find serious diseases early. If a disease is found early, it is easier to treat.

🩺 Free Cancer Screenings in England

If you are registered with a GP in England, you can get these free cancer screenings:

🧫 Cervical Screening

  • For women aged 25 to 64
  • Done at your GP practice
  • You will get a letter inviting you for an appointment

🎗 Breast Screening (Mammogram)

  • For women aged 50 to 70
  • Women over 70 can ask for it themselves (self-refer)
  • Done at a local hospital
  • You can bring someone with you or ask for an interpreter

🟤 Bowel Cancer Screening

  • For men and women aged 60 to 74
  • Done at home with a test kit
  • You get the kit by post and send it back by post

🧪 Latent TB Test (Tuberculosis)

If you have latent TB, it means the TB bacteria is in your body, but you do not feel ill. You can get a free TB test if:

  • You arrived in the UK in the last 5 years
  • You are from one of these countries:
    (Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Somalia, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Sudan, Zimbabwe, and many more)

❤️ NHS Health Check

The NHS Health Check is a free check for people aged 40 to 74. It helps to find:

  • Stroke risk
  • Kidney disease
  • Heart disease
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Early signs of dementia

You will be invited for a health check every 5 years by your GP practice.
